Our Church Body

WELS is a confessional Lutheran denomination made up of 1,269 congregations in 47 states and 4 Canadian provinces. The synod holds to a view that the Bible is the inerrant, inspired word of God and that the Lutheran Confessions are an accurate interpretation of the Bible. WELS is historically known for its emphasis on education, operating 369 early childhood centers, 281 elementary schools, 26 high schools, 2 colleges, and 1 seminary.
